Your Design, Your way!

Whether furnishing for girls, boys or guests – it’s all good!

Today’s youth-bedroom trends follow many of the design elements from the grown-up world. There are two reasons why that’s a good thing. First, you can carry your design style throughout the house for a cohesive look. And second, you can furnish a guest room with smaller pieces but still have big style.

Versatility is the name of the game. Bedroom sets that offer a choice of popular finishes such as charcoal, white and wire-brushed brown lend themselves to a wide variety of tastes so you can use them in any room. A choice of size and configuration such as bunks with a twin size over a full-size bed add even more adaptability. To enter a whole new realm of functionality, check out loft beds with study space or a dresser underneath, or headboards with bookshelves built in.

For a youth’s room, it’s helpful to think about the three zones they need: sleep, study, and storage. Choose pieces with lots of storage, such as drawers under the bed. Or consider free-standing storage solutions with hooks and baskets that you typically see in a mud rooms. Use one in your child’s room to contain clutter and you’ll both be happy.

Design-wise, you decide the vibe: coastal cottage, rustic, modern, traditional. Choose scallop details, a silver finish, or tufted headboard if you want to lean softer. Choose a beefy outline and strong bold lines if you want a more masculine look. For a neutral look, you can’t go wrong with a classic sleigh bed or mission-style slats.
