July 28 - Sunset Safari: Nature of North America

Sunset is a magical time at the Zoo – the air is quiet and the animals are awake and alert. Sunset Safaris – NEW this summer – provide families with an opportunity to experience the Zoo in a light like no other, with no crowds and an interpretive guide. Friday July 30, 2010 – Work on the Wild Side: Zoo Keepers

This is the second in a series of three events focused on some of the unique jobs that exist at our Zoo. Cleaning up after a giraffe, giving an elephant a bath, feeding a bald eagle or providing play opportunities for a moon bear, just another day in the life of a Zoo Keeper. This job is unique to say the least and guests will have an opportunity to learn more about this exciting field through keeper talks, interactive education stations and animal enrichment demos throughout the day. This is the last in a series of three events focused on some of the unique jobs that exist at our Zoo. The Zoo’s main mission is to educate its guests and foster a love of animals and nature that will carry over into their everyday lives. Come get a more in depth look at the many fun education activities offered at the Zoo, and learn conservation efforts that we’re a part of throughout the world, as well as right here in Rhode Island. Guests can meet our Conservation Director and also learn how they can get involved in local conservation projects. Activities run 11 am – 3 pm. Click here for details.
August 14 - Family Snore & Roar

Bring the whole family (ages 7 - adult) for an overnight at the Zoo! This exciting family adventure includes dinner, a night hike, activities, program animal encounters and a light breakfast. The theme for the night: "Most Extreme at RWP Zoo." We’ve all seen Animal Planet’s “Most Extreme Animals”, teaching us about the most extreme animals on our planet but have you seen the Most Extreme Animals in Roger Williams Park Zoo? During this fun filled overnight, participants will learn about the most extreme animals we have right here in our Zoo, even getting up close and personal with a few of the stars! October 7 – 31 - Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular
Last year over 80,000 people enjoyed this unique night time experience. This year it returns to the Zoo with all new carvings and displays. See thousands of illuminated pumpkins on display in a woodland setting, hundreds of which are carved with amazing artistry. Themed groupings depicting everything from children’s favorite stories to pop culture, all brought to life with special lighting and music, make this a Halloween hotspot that you won’t want to miss! October 23 - “Boo at the Zoo” Family Overnight

Head to Roger Williams Park Zoo for a fun-filled overnight guaranteed to give you goose bumps. From spiders to bats to wolves and more, misunderstood animals have been the stuff of scary movies and books for ages. Head to Roger Williams Park Zoo for Halloween family fun! Trick-or-treat and enjoy live music and seasonal entertainment including pumpkin carving demonstrations, games, animal encounters, costumed characters, pumpkin treats for the animals and more. November 27 - Santa’s Arrival & Holiday Parade

Usher in the holiday season with the Jolly Old Elf himself at the Zoo! See Santa arrive by helicopter in grand style, then take part in a festive holiday parade, see the animals receive some “gifts” of their own and enjoy a number of other activities that’ll get the whole family glowing with holiday cheer. Celebrate the holiday season in wild style at the Zoo!
